Xiangjiang river pollution

Xiangjiang river is one of China main river.
817 kilometer in length, it goes through Hunan province, Changsha and then Guanzhou.

Unfortunately the river is polluted. There is notably some heavy metal pollution in this river.

Hunan province is known for its mining industry. Many industries threw wastes directly in the river and this leads to Cadmium pollution. There was a scandal last week.
Part of the rice produced in Hunan Province would be contaminated. Effects of cadmium on health are many: cancer, blood pressure,..

This doesn't stop children from swimming in the river and many local to fish...

Sometimes you can see oil spots all over the water.
Sometimes you can see some strange foam.

Fishermen don't mind
