Chinese hypermarket getting rid of foreign brands?

The other day I went to my local hypermart, one of the biggest Chinese hypermarket chain in China.

Is it some kind of Chinese hypermarket strategy? getting rid of foreign brands?

In France supermarkets follow a similar strategy:
Progressively, they develop their own supermarket brand so as to make more profit. Progressively they stop distributing famous brands.
But here in China instead of Yakult a Japanese brand, hypermart sells some Chinese brands. And these brands are poor imitations of the authentic Yakult.
Probably in the future, Chinese hypermarket will stop distributing foreign brands...
