Why in China you must speak about money?
When you discussing with Chinese people you will notice that money is a central topic.
How much do you make?
How much does this new clothes cost?
How much is a plane ticket to go to France?
How much does this study cost?
How much does it cost to go to Pizza Hut?
Chinese people are very knowledgeable on prices.
They compare prices from one shop to the next, from one country to the next. They compare salaries from one job to the next. Money is the normal casual small talk between relatives or friends.
This has many incidences. Money is central in Chinese society. It is a reference for social status. But again a employee will have little company loyalty. Or again a customer look at the price...
Chinese people bargain.
Not only do Chinese people know price, salaries, costs... they also bargain all the time.
What if you don't talk about money?
What if you don't bargain?
The only one who don't bargain are children, fools, weaks or someone who wants to show off and pretend he is very wealthy!
If you want to be respected in China, you should bargain and "get dirty" (if you consider that money is dirty): talk money!
