Coconut balls in China

In Chinese restaurant in France, you always find coconut balls.
I had never seen any before in China.

I thought it was a speciality from south China.
As in fact, most Chinese restaurants in France come from south China and often from Vietnam... Many also come from coastal area, such as Zheijiang province (nearby Shanghai).
Dishes are often south China dishes: nems Cantonese rice, salt and sweet dishes...

However the saleswoman told me that coconut balls are a speciality of Beijing.
The taste is really not the same as compared to France Chinese restaurants coconut balls.
I didn't like it.
