Modern buildings in China

In China, everywhere you see modern 30 floors buildings.

I want to tell you more about these constructions:
  • Quality construction?
Most of these buildings are not good quality buildings. They are meant to last 20 to 25 years.
Though some buildings for commercial use are quality buildings.
Also the inside of the building will very quickly become a mess: wastes, rats, painting falling down... Most Chinese people don't care about this. It is not the same perception we have in France.
  • Price?
The real estate price have increased drastically. It was multiplied by 3 or 4 in Chinese provincial capital cities. While a few years ago it was a good deal to contract a loan, buy an appartment in a modern building and rent it out, today it might not be a good deal at all...
Real estate price in Changsha range from 4000rmb/ square meter to 15 000 or even 20 000. Even though it is difficult to rent for more than 4000rmb a month.
  • Chinese people prefer modern buildings
Most Chinese people would rather live in a modern building. It is brand new. It is modern. You have a nice view over the city.
The top floors are the best except for the two last floor, that could be too warm in summer and too cold in winter.
  • Empty buildings?
Many buildings in China in suburbian area stay empty... There are too many modern constructions. And most Chinese cities already reached their maximum size.

Even though the central government is trapped in a growth model. In order to create growth. The government builds new constructions, roads... It aims to have Chinese farmers leave their lands and come to cities. While the lands are regrouped under one huge farm company using GMO and monoculture, pesticide... the US model...
